Year 8 Dinner

It was the night for Ngatea Primary School's year 8's to celebrate our time at school before college. The night kicked off with walking the red carpet and getting photos with our family. The Year 8 Dinner had started! We sat down and I was next to the Leonard's in the front of the hall. Mr Fraser did a speech about the year 8's and an intro to the night. After that, Lewis told us that we would have dinner as we were the second table to get our food. After  the delicious dinner I went off to the autograph board with my friends and signed each card that was on there.

We all had to sit back down to hear our guest speaker Paul Bowman. He talked about the ups and downs in his life and about his time in the police force and other inspirational stuff. A little bit after the speech we had dessert. I had Pavlova, Cheesecake and some chocolate mouse. It was nice, rich, but so nice. My friends and I went to go talk again before the booklets and Vlogs were given to us. We didn't have long before we sat down to get our booklets and DVD. We went up in order that we arrived at NPS and then we viewed the Year 8 Vlogs. The Vlogs were cool. Corbin's was the best. I thought his was funny and different because he did it in the weekend at Whangamata. Then the night was finished. I had a great time and it was a great way to finish my time at NPS.

Cricket

It was a great day on November 14th as the Kaihere Cubs played their third game of cricket. We started off with fielding with Lewis and Jake our opening bowlers wickets could come fast.Four overs had passed and we still had no wickets but Lewis was having his third over and the second bowl of his over and POW! bowled him that's was one down out of ten.It wasn't soon as we got a few more wickets as we caught most of them out but their was one guy who could smash the ball we kept on dropping his high balls I was disappointed because two came to me but soon enough we got him out. As time went bye wickets kept on coming and soon enough we got them all out but one and in the first ball of Jack's over I dived for a catch and I got him out. We got Morrinsville out for one hundred and thirteen runs to beat in 30 overs or more.

Our first batsman was Tom facing with on the other side Lewis as they didn't get out the game before.Tom and Lewis had stayed in for a while but Tom got an unlucky catch as Jack took his place. I kept on waiting for my turn to bat but we needed to get about thirty seven runs but Lewis got caught out later with Osten taking his place I was seventh in the batting order so I didn't think I would get to bat. Morrinsville didn't get any other wickets after Lewis and it was drinks time when we only needed about ten runs so we were in for the win.Jack and Osten kept on batting till the end as we won our third game in a row as we did three cheers to the other team as shacked hands we finished on a high with Jack and Osten opening next game against Ngahinapouri young guns.

Do you get Hangry?

You have most likely herd of Hanger the combo of anger and hungry. Do you sometimes feel hungry and get angry well that's a hangry. We know it as a joke with a twist of two words but the brain actually releases a chemical called Neuropeptide. Neuropeptide helps increase food intake but it also is the same chemical of anger and aggression so take small snacks and keep calm and you won't get a hangry.

Leaving a legacy.

Dan Carter has inspires me for many year to push forward in tough times.Dan Carter is the goal kicker for the All Blacks with a total of 1598 points breaking the world record in 2009.As for most of his career he has played alongside Richie McCaw the All blacks captain they have both boosted each other up as I want to do that to my rugby team. Now Dan Carter is retiring from the All Blacks with a high on being a world champion team as he’s gone of to play for a French team but he will always inspire me to push hard and boost others up to play their best and that’s who inspires me Dan Carter.

Term 3 Zentangle Art Evaluation

Last term (Term 3) the Marama syndicate did a type of art that's called Zentangle art.I really enjoyed this type of art because it was a different type of art that I have never done before so it was cool to try something new. The time for my had was five weeks for the rugby boot and the hand I was struggling with the patterns there was to many of them so I ran out of room in the picture.I didn't enjoy the hand as much as the rugby boot the hand was not that big so I had to do small patterns otherwise it was fun.The biggest difficulty was when I was coloring it was hard to pick the colors to make it look cool.My favorite pattern was my red and black splat on the rugby boot it was cool with those two patterns together.

Potato post

In Northern Ireland a family received the most interesting package a Potato. The potato did have a stamp on it as it was a thank you potato from his sister for helping her potato themed wedding.

The potato managed to make it from England to Northern Ireland as it is pretty impressive that it made the trip. The mailman said that as service for 14 years it’s the weirdest package he's delivered to a house.

NZ flag change cut down to 4 designs

New Zealand’s flag choice has been trimmed to 4 designs.
Three fern designs and one koru design are the options that could go head-to-head with the current New Zealand flag in a referendum next year.
The final four new national flag designs were revealed yesterday at a function in Wellington.
The public will be asked to rank them to decide the final option in a referendum to be held later this year. This will determine which of the designs will run against the current flag in a second referendum in March 2016 to decide which flag New Zealand will use in the future.
A panel chose 40 from more than 10,000 designs submitted by the public, and Cabinet signed off on the final four yesterday.
The first referendum is set to be held between 20 November and 11 December, and the entire project is expected to cost over $25 million.

Youngest person to be fitted with a bionic hand

bionic
Nine-year-old Josh Cathcart from Scotland has become the youngest person in the world to be fitted with a bionic hand.
Josh was born with his right arm missing from the elbow down.
He is very happy with his new hand as he used to get badly bullied. He is enjoying being able to stack up blocks, tie a knot and pull up his own trousers.
The i-limb quantum bionic had is controlled by the wearer’s muscle signals and a mobile app. It is said to be the first prosthetic hand that could change grips with a gesture.
The wearer could activate the desired grip by moving the hand in any of four different directions.
“I got it put on about two days ago. It feels quite heavy. I can stick my thumb up. I can make a pinch grip, I can get a grip for cutting with a knife,” Josh said.
The bionic hand works from electrodes which are positioned on the surface of his skin within the socket of his prosthesis. When he tenses those muscles, the electrodes open and close the hand.

Thames Valley Cross Country

On Wednesday the 26th of August I went to represent Hauraki at the Thames Valley Cross Country. We were lucky with the weather it was sunny but it was still pretty cold.It was a far journey to Whitianga it took about an hour and a half just to get there with Jack, Tyne, Jamie and I in the car it got pretty noisy. After the far journey it I hopped out of the car grabbed my gear and put it where everyone else had their stuff.

We waited a while to walk the course but at ten fifteen it was time to see what was upon me.The track was good nothing that could hurt my feet which was good and there was only a small hill that was easy to do.But the 12 plus had a to do two laps of the course! and that made it huge but I walked back really nervous for my race.

The 8 year old's were first then nine and then ten my nerves started to crank up but then finally after hours 12 plus were up.On your marks... get set... bang! the race had started at intense speed I was coming 6th behind Lewis but I cranked up a notch on the hill and got the lead I was glad but the race wasn't over yet.I had only one lap left and I was still in the lead but not by much Connor was right behind me and he wanted to win to but I needed to run faster if I was going to win.The last stretch I had no gas left so Lewis, Max and Connor past me at the end but I had finished with a placing of fourth. I was so over whelmed because I did much better than last year and I had gotten in the top five so I went home sore and glad with the result.

Hauraki plains Cross Country

It was the 17th of August and the weather just held up for Cross Country but the day wasn't going fast.I had to race in the 12 plus and I had to get into the top six to make it into Thames valley X-country.Ready set go I the race had started I had jogged to save energy for the hill. The hill was tough it was muddy and slippery I had just enough energy to make it up but I had to worry about the down hill part I went down so fast and there was still another rocky hill to come.

I was smart to wear shoes because there was a rocky hill after the Huge hill.I just ran as hard I could up the rocky hill but I didn't pass anyone they others were to far ahead but I still had know one close to me at the end. I ran as hard as I could to the finish line happy with ending up in 4th place I had felt a bit light headed in the end because of all the effort that I put in but next week I am going to Thames Valley.

Original Milo on sale of at least $4000

Like the new Milo? if not then go on trade me because a Taranaki man found out the Milo was changing the recipe so he stocked up on it.The man Shaun Harris brought 237 packets all because of a new recipe change it quiet stupid but yet smart if you don't like the new Milo.I wouldn't go for all that trouble for a Milo and I don't like the new recipe that much but he wasted about 5000 dollars just to buy all of it.He also says says that in time for Christmas it would make a good present and that some of the money that he makes from the Milo will go into a Motorsport sponsorship.

Floating and sinking post

Floating and sinking are completely opposite things but when we did science we learned that objects that I thought would sink floated. For example an orange what do you think would happen it turns out the an orange with it's peal on floats why? because of the density of the orange peal can contain air that water can't get to.When you take of the orange peal it still can contain air so what happens to the orange? It sinks because the water finds the air holes and make's the orange less dense so it sinks here the picture of what happened.
